Foxcast 7: Baikal (December 2014)

A lovely trippy feel to this mix from Baikal. The mix starts off on a chilled house journey before speeding up a little and sounding more like the music Oliver Prime used to make a good ten years ago. This is an outstanding set that is refreshingly different.

As we prepare to ring in the new year, we are excited to welcome back an Experience veteran, Baikal. Having cofounded the Maeve imprint with mates Mano Le Tough and The Drifter, Baikal brings a deep breadth of production and DJ’ing experience to build his incredibly deep sound. This set encapsulates what makes him so unique: it’s a patient multi-layered build that seamlessly melds tracks of styles you wouldn’t otherwise attribute to the same one hour set. At times it’s softly melodic, at times mechanical and industrial, but always steadily increasing pressure while being, very simply, flatout hypnotic.
